Congo snags EU and EIB cash to speed up digital transformation

Congo kicked off a major technology upgrade project with help from Europe and other partners. Minister Léon Juste Ibombo led the launch ceremony for this digital transformation plan. The country wants to connect more people and make life better through technology. European backers put up 27 billion CFA francs for the effort. The World Bank added another 61.4 billion CFA francs to support the work.

The European Union sees this project as part of their Global Gateway program. Anne Marchal from the EU said the money helps build good infrastructure that helps people grow. The project matches what Congo wants to achieve with their 2030 digital plan. Leaders started putting the European part into action last November. Women and young people will benefit most from these technology improvements.

Congo plans to upgrade government computer systems to work better for citizens. The project will help people start new businesses and learn digital skills. Young people will get training programs to find better jobs. Health care and education departments will handle information more safely. Computer security will get stronger to protect important data.

Officials signed several agreements to make the project happen legally. The contracts cover grants, loans and technical help from different partners. Minister Ibombo thanked everyone for sticking with the plan through tough times. He also praised other African leaders for their ongoing support. This digital push should help Congo build a modern society that works for everyone.
