Royal Malaysian Customs Department officers intercepted a significant cannabis smuggling operation at Rantau Panjang Free Duty Zone on April 23. Authorities seized 102.178 kilograms of cannabis flowers valued at more than RM10 million during coordinated enforcement activities. The first discovery occurred at Gate 1 around 10:30am when officers found 88 suspicious packets within three bags. A female motorcyclist carrying 32 additional packets led investigators to Rantau Panjang Express Bus Stop at 11am. Officers arrested two individuals at the bus terminal after discovering 60 more packets concealed in bags.
The trafficking network utilized illegal crossing points along Sungai Golok river before transporting narcotics into the duty-free zone area. Customs officials confiscated six bags containing 180 individual packets during the comprehensive operation. All arrested suspects are Malaysian nationals between ages 30 and 45 years. Authorities initiated legal proceedings under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The coordinated raids successfully dismantled the organized smuggling syndicate.
