The University of The Gambia hosted the first Filmmakers and Actors Night event on Saturday May 24. Franklin Chika Adim from 69 Entertainment organized the celebration for local cinema workers. Film stars and movie fans gathered at the School of Journalism and Digital Media. The theme focused on highlighting Gambian movie making talents. Organizers wanted to honor people who help the film business grow.
Event planners remembered actors and filmmakers who died over recent years. Fantah Kamara Smith, Binta Fatty, Aisha Jallow Jobe and others received special recognition. Cherno Njie, Ebou Waggeh, Foday Koroma Bangalie also earned tributes from attendees. Mohammed Eliman Touray and Batch Jajaun Ngom were among those honored. Awards went to people and groups that support movie production across the country.
