Feudal Japan Gets a Double Dose of Stealth Action

Fans asked for years, and Ubisoft finally made it happen - "Assassin's Creed Shadows" takes us to feudal Japan. Players can pick between two main heroes - a fast shinobi who kills from the shadows or a mighty samurai warrior. These two bring totally different ways to play as you sneak around or fight head-on during Japan's roughest times. You'll find secret plots, change how history plays out, and master both sneaky moves and sword fighting on a huge open map.

The game keeps what made the series great but adds cool new stuff. The parkour lets you climb better than ever, hiding from enemies works better, and rain or shine affects how you play. You can jump between playing as the quick ninja or the strong samurai whenever you want. The world has big towns, thick woods, and huge castles that react to what you do, making you think about every move.

Ubisoft built "Assassin's Creed Shadows" with their latest Anvil Engine, making everything look amazing. The game works with all the fancy upscaling tech—NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS—plus it uses frame generation for smoother play. They added ray tracing for better lights, shadows, and reflections, but older graphics cards can still run it with a backup option. No other Assassin's Creed game has ever had ray tracing before, which makes this one pretty special.

Our review checks how the game runs on lots of different graphics cards. We look at how pretty each setting makes the game versus how hard it hits your computer. We also figure out how much video memory you need for the best time playing. All this helps you know if your computer can handle this Japanese adventure and which parts you might need to upgrade.
