FISSURE cancels three CS2 events

Three Counter-Strike 2 events just got axed because travel logistics and calendar clashes made professional-level competition impossible.

FISSURE Playground 3 shelved
  • FISSURE canceled Playground 3 in Shenzhen over an overlap with the IEM Rio 2026.
  • IEM Rio wraps on April 19, and the Shenzhen event was slated for April 20-26.
  • Over 36 hours of travel from South America to China made the turnaround unrealistic.
July events also scrapped
  • FISSURE ditched its July tournaments for both 2026 and 2027.
  • Lessons from the 2025 Playground showed player-break events lack top-tier competition.
Valve's regulatory pressure looms
  • PGL CEO Silviu Stroie claimed multiple FISSURE events would lose Tier-1 status.
  • Valve's 10-month notification deadline for tournament details reportedly was not met.
What still stands
  • All other previously announced FISSURE tournaments proceed as planned.
  • A confirmed LAN in Shenzhen is locked in for September.
