Gambian Women Prepare for Employment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia

A group of 25 women from Gambia will travel to Saudi Arabia next week, and another 25 will join them soon after. These women will work in Saudi Arabia for two years.

The women learned many important things before their big trip. People from job offices taught them about life in Saudi Arabia. They learned about the weather and how people live there. This helped the women feel ready for their new jobs.

Mr. Fabba Jammeh works at the jobs office. He said this trip made history because these women were the first Gambian workers to go to Saudi Arabia. He thinks almost 5,000 Gambian people will work there soon. The new rules from last year ensure everyone stays safe when they work in other countries.

The women will earn good money in their jobs. Mr. Modou Camara helps send workers to other countries. He said the workers will start earning 200 dollars each month. If they work well, they might earn 250 dollars later. After two years, they can talk about working there longer.

The Saudi government has special ways to protect workers from other countries. They use a system called Musaned to make sure everyone follows the rules. Mr. Camara asked the Gambian women to be good workers and follow all the rules in their work papers.
