GameStop Ruins Switch 2 With Staple Holes

Nintendo Switch 2 consoles arrived with damaged screens on launch day. GameStop employees stapled receipts directly to console boxes at one Staten Island store. The staples punched holes through the packaging and into the screens underneath. Multiple customers discovered the damage after returning home from midnight launches. Each affected console needs replacement through the next shipment.

Social media users blamed both GameStop and Nintendo for the problems. Players argued that Nintendo should have designed better protective packaging. The current box design places the screen at the top without adequate protection. Critics said the packaging made it easy for store workers to damage the screens accidentally. Other midnight launch locations avoided similar issues.

Reports of screen damage remain limited to the single Staten Island GameStop location. Canadian EB Games stores completed successful launches without damaging consoles. Nintendo has not announced packaging changes in response to the incidents. The Staten Island store serves as a warning example for other retailers. Affected customers must wait for replacement units to arrive.
