German Ambassador Klaus Botzet opened a modern dental clinic in Dippa Kunda last weekend. The Jordan Dental Clinic will give Gambians affordable dental care. The clinic offers preventive services and teaches people about oral health. It has a well-trained dental staff and community health workers. Gambian philanthropist Ousman Y Bah runs the clinic.
The Gambia struggles with few dentists and clinics, especially in rural areas. Many existing facilities lack running water and electricity for basic care. Tooth decay rates remain high because Gambians consume lots of sugary foods and drinks. The country spends just two cents per person on dental care. The new clinic aims to fill these serious gaps.
Ambassador Botzet praised Bah for his work and his relationship with his German friend. He thanked the Gambian government for helping Bah build the clinic and asked officials to support the Y Bah Foundation to keep the clinic running long-term. Bah explained that he started the clinic to help patients who face problems getting treatment.

He mentioned that it supports their goal of better health for all Gambians and called healthcare access a basic human right. Prof AR Jordan, who partners with Bah, noted that dental care was not a priority before, but needs urgent attention today.
