Ghana gets $500m for feeder roads

A half-billion-dollar World Bank payout is about to turn Ghana’s neglected rural roads into something drivable.

Feeder Road Funding
  • President John Dramani Mahama scored $500 million from the World Bank for nationwide road fixes.
  • The cash targets those beat-up rural routes linking farms to major markets.
  • He announced the deal Thursday during his tour stop in Wenchi.
Sunyani Infrastructure
  • Construction has already kicked off on Sunyani’s Outer Ring Road.
  • Designs are finished for the Inner Ring Road, with budget work now in motion.
  • The old Sunyani airport is getting ditched for a brand-new one with a longer runway.
  • Local chiefs helped secure fresh land for a 2.4-kilometer replacement strip.
Stadium & Regional Push
  • Three new regional multipurpose stadiums are in the pipeline for the near term.
  • These facilities will pull double duty for sports and community events.
