The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment teamed up with the Youth Employment Agency to launch new committees that will run the government's Work Abroad Programme. They held this event at the Ministry's meeting room, where people from many government offices and world groups came together. The Acting Chief Director, Gloria Bortele Noi, thanked everyone for helping with this plan. YEA boss Malik Basintale cleared up wrong ideas about the program, saying it aims to help trained Ghanaians find jobs overseas.
Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, who heads the Labour Ministry, said the government wants to fix youth joblessness through partnerships with other countries. He explained that MLJE and YEA created this program to offer short-term, seasonal, contract, and full-time work for young Ghanaians in partner nations. The plan has many goals - making sure people move between countries safely, helping youth become more employable, cutting down unemployment rates, growing the economy, and helping workers who return home.
The Minister made a big change by stopping the sending of house helpers abroad. He did this to keep weaker groups safe from being taken advantage of and to match what other countries did. Dr. Pelpuo then introduced the new committees and talked about what jobs they needed to do for the program to work well. He mentioned that YEA would run the daily operations as the main office for the program.
When he started the committees, Dr. Pelpuo thanked all members for their hard work and wished them luck with their duties ahead. The Work Abroad Programme is a major government effort that tries to solve youth unemployment by working with global partners and creating jobs in a planned way. This approach helps young Ghanaians looking for work and strengthens the national economy through international job markets.
