Katima Mulilo stuck with blocked sewers

Katima Mulilo Town Council cannot help residents with sewage suction because their truck broke down. The town faces many problems with overflowing sewage systems that need repairs. When these systems fail, waste flows backward through toilets, showers, and manholes inside yards.

Council representative Ipuleni Kafe-Mate spoke to The Namibian newspaper about the situation. She said they do not know when they can fix the truck to start services again. Residents who pay private companies for sewage help will receive money back through credits on their municipal bills. People must keep receipts from private services to submit them later.

The council asks everyone not to damage the already poor sewage pipes. Kafe-Mate warned people against putting trash into sewers or breaking manholes. These actions hurt public property. They create health dangers for everyone living nearby. Such behavior leads to environmental problems throughout town communities.
