Gulu City Council presented a new budget plan of 38.4 billion shillings on Wednesday for 2025/2026. Education will receive the largest share at 16.8 billion shillings. The Administration department comes next with 8.1 billion shillings. Roads and Engineering will get 5.7 billion shillings from the total funds.
The new budget shows a small decrease from last year. The 2024/2025 budget was higher at 40.7 billion shillings. Town Clerk Innocent Ahimbisibwe promised the staff would help Gulu City meet all its goals. He wants Gulu to stand out across the country with these plans.
Ahimbisibwe mentioned a special committee that will reward hard-working council members. These awards will happen before the current council finishes its term. Speaker Alima Joyce Reeny announced where they will approve the final budget. The council agreed to hold this meeting at Gulu Main Market grounds.
