Deputy Minister Omphile Marupi told people at Sengezane Primary School in Gwanda South that communities need to step up and build science labs plus computer facilities if the Heritage-Based Curriculum is going to work. The government dropped cash to rebuild a classroom block after last year's storms wrecked it, but Marupi said parents can't just wait around for officials and donors to handle everything.
School Development Committee chair Sikhathele Ndlovu mentioned they're putting up an admin building and fixed their water pump for the garden while dealing with termite damage to another block. The school has 476 kids enrolled, and Marupi pushed parents to pay fees so development projects can keep moving.
He also wants successful former students to come back and help out their old schools instead of forgetting where they came from.
