Half Life 2 RTX Demo now on Steam with epic ray tracing

NVIDIA plans to launch the Half-Life 2 RTX Demo on March 18th. Players can enjoy two hours of gameplay with complete ray tracing, brand-new assets, plus updated animations. Orbifold Studios worked hard to remaster everything using RTX Remix technology. Half-Life 2 players won't pay anything extra since this comes as a free Steam mod for anyone who already has the game.

This demo features amazing tech, such as NVIDIA DLSS 4 and RTX Neural Radiance Cache. The package also includes RTX Skin, RTX Volumetrics, and several other cutting-edge NVIDIA features. This Half-Life 2 RTX Demo launch actually represents something bigger—RTX Remix finally moves beyond beta testing after a full year of development. The platform has proven pretty popular during that time.

More than 30,000 creators have already used RTX Remix to update their favorite classic games with modern graphics. These updated games have reached over 1 million players across various titles. Many gamers already love Portal with RTX, and Portal: prelude RTX is made with this same technology. Both show what happens when old games meet new lighting systems.

Mark your calendar because the Half-Life 2 RTX Demo hits Steam on March 18th. The free download gives everyone a chance to see how ray tracing transforms an all-time classic shooter. The demo lets you experience familiar environments with realistic shadows, reflections, and lighting effects never possible before. The visual upgrade makes City 17 feel almost brand new despite the original game turning twenty years old soon.
