How Gambia Ferries Are Preparing for Disaster Management

The Gambia Ferry Service Company just finished a three-day training. The training was about emergency response and disaster management. It was held at the Gambia Ports Authority.

The staff learned important skills during the training. These skills will help them respond well to emergencies and disasters. They will be able to keep ferry passengers and staff safe.

The training covered many parts of emergency management, including risk assessment, first aid, evacuation plans, and incident command systems. The staff also participated in practice exercises and simulations, which helped them prepare to handle real emergencies.

Sheriffo Nyassi works for the ferries. He said the company wants to prioritize passenger and staff safety. He called the training the first of many steps to build a strong and ready team.

Ebrima Sisawo is from the ministry of health. He said it's important for different groups to work together in emergency response efforts.

People at the event said active steps need to be taken for emergency management. This is especially true for important areas like ferry transportation.

Seed Choi participated in the program. He said the staff are now better prepared to handle unexpected situations and that it made them more confident and ready.
