India's agricultural exports soar 7 percent to $5.96 billion in Q1 FY26

Agricultural exports from India surged during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. Government data shows shipments reached $5.96 billion between April and June. This represents a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. Rice once again dominated these export figures. The grain sector contributed $2.9 billion through the combined production of basmati and non-basmati varieties.

India has held its position as the top rice supplier globally for over a decade. The country accounts for 40 percent of the global rice trade. The lifting of export restrictions in late 2024 helped boost these numbers significantly. Buffalo meat and dairy products posted substantial gains of 17 percent. These protein exports generated $1.18 billion during the quarter.

Fresh produce shipments climbed 13 percent to reach $950 million. Fruits and vegetables are in high demand across international markets. APEDA managed products delivered $25.14 billion worth of exports in fiscal 2025. This authority oversees roughly half of all agricultural shipments from India.
