Intel confirms faster DDR5 for Arrow Lake CPUs

Intel's forthcoming Arrow Lake refresh processors will accommodate DDR5 memory running at 7200 megatransfers per second, marking a 12.5 percent jump from the current 6400 megatransfer capabilities. The chipmaker disclosed this enhancement through updated technical documentation, specifying that the elevated speeds apply exclusively to CUDIMM modules equipped with clock driver integrated circuits. Conventional UDIMM configurations remain capped at 5600 megatransfers per second.

The performance gains stem from refined integrated memory controller architecture paired with motherboard platform improvements, though Intel appears unlikely to introduce new chipsets beyond existing Z890 designs. Three refresh models will arrive with supplementary efficiency cores and modest frequency increases, yet analysts anticipate muted market enthusiasm given the original Arrow Lake family's underwhelming competitive standing against AMD offerings.

Adoption pressure diminishes further as enthusiasts recognize that the LGA 1851 socket faces obsolescence later in 2026 when Nova Lake processors transition to the LGA 1954 platform.
