Iran says no talks until Israel ends attacks on its soil

Iran told world leaders it will not talk about its nuclear program during the current fighting. The country's top diplomat met with European officials in Geneva on Friday. These diplomats asked Iran to start fresh talks with America about nuclear weapons. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country would only consider peace talks after Israel stops attacking. He claimed Iran's nuclear work aims for peaceful purposes and that Israel breaks international rules.

Israeli leaders warned their people to prepare for a long war with Iran. Defense Minister Eyal Zamir spoke about an extended military campaign against the Islamic Republic. Israeli forces launched new attacks on Iranian missile sites after Iran fired rockets at central Israel. Explosions rang out near Tel Aviv as missile defense systems worked to protect the city. Reports showed that falling debris started a fire in central Israel.

The fighting killed people on both sides during the latest round of violence. A 16-year-old died when Israeli forces struck the Iranian city of Qom south of Tehran. Iranian state media said Israeli jets also hit a nuclear facility in Isfahan again. One Israeli woman died from a heart attack during Iran's missile attack on Haifa. Iran's health ministry counted 224 dead people from the recent strikes.

President Trump gave Iran two weeks to change course before America might launch air strikes. He dismissed the European talks and said Iran wants to speak directly with the United States instead of Europe. French and British foreign ministers warned that military action alone cannot solve the nuclear crisis. They pushed for talks between all parties to prevent the situation from getting worse.
