Kenyans protested against recent abductions on Monday. The police tried to break up the crowds. They even brought horses to one protest site in Nairobi.
Senator Okiya Omtatah was among the protesters. He and others locked arms to avoid being arrested. The police used tear gas on the group around 1 pm. This made people run for cover. But the protesters came back together soon after. They kept demonstrating.
Later, Mr. Omtatah and some others held onto a big metal chain. They wanted to stop the police from arresting them. But officers still took Mr. Omtatah and other protesters away. They were brought to a police station.
The protesters want answers about six missing men who disappeared between December 17 and 25. The men's names are Gideon Kibet, Ronny Kiplagat, Steve Kavingo Mbisi, Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Kelvin Muthoni.
On the same day, a top official asked for an investigation. Mulele Ingonga is the Director of Public Prosecutions. He told the police to update him by January 1 about the claims of abductions.
