Khawaja Salman Rafique Reaffirms Commitment to Health Card Program and Healthcare Reforms

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique spoke to reporters about recent news stories concerning the health card system. He said the provincial government continues supporting free medical care for all citizens. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz leads efforts to bring modern changes to healthcare services across Punjab. Officials recently paid Rs22 billion in old bills for medicine deliveries to public hospitals over five years. The government wants to make sure people receive quality treatment without paying fees.

Rafique told citizens that health insurance programs will keep running as usual. Officials decided to limit health card use at private hospitals to protect the healthcare system for future generations. The Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education will pay for any money shortages at public hospitals. This change helps officials use resources better to help more people. The minister believes these steps will make healthcare stronger for everyone.

Government hospitals have enough medicines for patients according to the health minister. Punjab set aside Rs32 billion to buy drugs and keep supplies flowing to all medical centers.
