Kwakye Ofosu finally admits govt failure to protect Ghana media

Government bigwig Felix Ofosu Kwakye has promised to crack down hard on anyone who dares attack news reporters while they work. The Communications Minister delivered his tough warning during Friday's ceremony where Ghana Journalists Association bosses took their oaths of office. Kwakye slammed people who put media workers in danger and vowed zero tolerance for such behavior. He told the packed gathering that covering stories should never put journalists at risk. The minister made clear that his administration takes these threats very seriously.

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour grabbed the top job as GJA president while Rebecca Ekpe became his deputy. Dominic Hlordzi secured the general secretary position and Suleiman Mustapha landed the organizing secretary role. Bertha Badu-Agyei walked away with the treasurer post while Zadok Kwame Gyesi became public affairs officer. The fresh leadership team promised to shield reporters from violence using every trick in the book.

Kwakye praised journalists for keeping Ghana's democracy alive and kicking. The minister wants media houses to keep grilling politicians and government officials without fear of payback. He actually welcomes harsh criticism from reporters rather than expecting endless praise. The government chief emphasized that strong democracies need fearless media that refuse to bow down to pressure. Dwumfour pledged his team would fight tooth and nail against anyone targeting journalists with violence.
