Lesedi FM management faces a massive revolt after allegedly rigging their New Year's playlist to favor an obscure industry plant. The Free State Music Association (FSMA) demanded answers within twenty-four hours regarding why Oufadafada's track "Ya Itshepelang Modimo" took the midnight spot despite remaining virtually unknown. Chairman Morris Rhoda argues the single only dropped in mid-November and sat at number thirty-four on the charts, which makes the selection highly suspicious compared to actual heavyweights like Khadeair. He suspects senior executives manipulated the process since genuine hits rarely materialize that quickly.
SABC spokesperson Mmoni Ngubane dismissed the drama, claiming the station never runs an official voting campaign for the transition song anyway. She essentially stated that the midnight track selection remains an internal choice rather than a democracy, regardless of listener outrage.
