Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye visited the Uganda Registration Services Bureau recently. She brought along many permanent secretaries and several officials from Singapore. As Head of Public Service, she wanted everyone to see how URSB modernized its registration systems. The group toured the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre to see these improvements firsthand.
URSB staff members showed off their latest technology advances during the tour. They explained how these changes made registration faster and easier for citizens across Uganda. Ms. Nakyobe seemed impressed by what she saw throughout the facility. Because of this visit, she announced a major change for government leaders.
Starting next year, permanent secretaries must focus on updating technology systems. Nakyobe said this would become their main performance goal for 2025-2026. She believes every ministry should create simpler processes for citizens. The visiting officials asked many questions about business permits and copyright protection.
