Mnangagwa praises top learners for moot court win

President Mnangagwa met Zimbabwe students at State House yesterday. He praised these young people from Heritage School and St George's College who won the Orate Africa Moot Court Competition. The regional contest happened recently in Gaborone, Botswana. Our students beat teams from six other countries. They will travel to Ghana in August to represent all of Southern Africa.

The President felt happy about meeting successful students. He told them they should feel special because many kids their age did not make it this far. The winners earned their chance to visit the Head of State through hard work. Education Minister Torerayi Moyo said these awards prove how well Zimbabwe's Heritage-based Education works. He explained that useful education must create things people need.

The Heritage plan helps find talents in students early. Those good at law can practice as lawyers during these moot court events. Minister Moyo believes these winners will become real lawyers after finishing school. He thanked the President for making an environment where smart kids can succeed. The Zimbabwe team came first out of 19 schools from seven different nations around southern Africa.

Their coach, Ms Bernadette Mazambani Chigwida, won the best adjudicator award at the event. She credited hard work for bringing the trophy home. The competition acts like a real court where students argue cases before judges. Simbarashe Mujuru earned best speaker honors at the contest. He felt thrilled about meeting President Mnangagwa and said this experience would push him to keep working hard.

Kimberly Chamboko from Heritage School in Borrowdale won best female speaker. She described the competition as very tough but worth it. Her team spent many nights without sleep preparing for the event. James Charumbira, Samuelson Kapingidza, and Munotida Foya from St George's College helped win the trophy. Trish Kadenhe and Beverly Chifeya from Heritage School also played big parts in their victory. All these students learned much about laws during this amazing journey.
