Man City trounces Man United with a 1 billion pound Puma kit deal

Manchester City has secured a record-breaking partnership with Puma valued at £1 billion across ten years. The Premier League champions will receive approximately £100 million annually through 2035 under this arrangement. This contract surpasses Manchester United's previous record of £90 million per year with Adidas, established in 2023. The German sportswear manufacturer has previously paid City £65 million annually since their initial partnership began in 2019. Real Madrid and Barcelona maintain similar agreements, exceeding £100 million yearly with their respective kit suppliers.

City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano praised the collaboration's success over six seasons together. Puma chief executive Arthur Hoeld emphasized the partnership's achievements both commercially and competitively. The sportswear company has witnessed multiple trophy celebrations while providing performance products for the club. Both organizations expressed satisfaction with fan engagement across global markets. The renewal reflects confidence in Manchester City's continued prominence within world football.

The announcement follows City's first trophy-less campaign since the 2016-17 season under Pep Guardiola's management. The team secured third place in the Premier League standings after claiming four consecutive titles. Crystal Palace defeated them in the FA Cup final, while Al-Hilal eliminated City from the Club World Cup during the round-of-16 competition. Despite these setbacks, Puma remains committed to the long-term partnership. The substantial financial commitment demonstrates faith in the City's ability to return to championship form.
