Manoj Bajpayee says OTT gives sidelined Bollywood actors a lifeline

Manoj Bajpayee says OTT has given sidelined Bollywood actors a fair shot at work and respect. The actor thinks streaming services have made a real difference for performers who once had a hard time finding decent roles in Hindi films.

His point goes beyond fame. A steady run of acting jobs can help people pay their bills and live with a bit more ease. And for stars who spent years waiting for a chance, that kind of job security matters.

Bajpayee also sees a clear rise in how often such chances come up. Streaming has made room for more talent, with male performers who rarely got their due in theaters finding fresh work and a wider reach.

His career has long been full of roles that stray from the usual Bollywood hero. Satya gave him the fierce gangster Bhiku Mhatre, while Gangs of Wasseypur saw him play Sardar Khan. Quite a range.

Then came Aligarh, where he took on Professor Ramchandra Siras, and Bhonsle, where he played an older police constable. Both parts showed his taste for people with complex lives rather than the standard action star mold.

The Family Man gave him another major role, this time as Srikant Tiwari, a spy who has to deal with danger and daily family chaos. The series let him mix tense scenes with dry humor, which became a key part of the character.

His latest Netflix outing, Gajab Raat, puts him in a police role alongside Divya Dutta. The thriller has Ritesh Shah in the director's seat, with Neeraj Pandey as producer.
