A man from Masvingo lost $2,300 when robbers attacked him after he entered a Mushikashika in Harare last Wednesday. This event raised safety concerns about unofficial transport, especially unregulated shared rides.
H-Metro reported that Luckmore Mudzamiri, who lives in Rhodhine, Masvingo, jumped into a silver Toyota Aqua at the Simon Muzenda Street bus stop. He planned to visit his brother, who lives in Ruwa. Four people were already inside the car. Mudzamiri squeezed between two men in the back seat.
As the car neared Eastlea intersection, the men next to him suddenly attacked. One pulled out a screwdriver as another held a knife against his neck. They demanded he hand over everything he carried with him.
Police officer Inspector Luckmore Chakanza spoke about the crime afterward. The thieves took Mudzamiri's bag, which held bathroom items, his defense certificate, ID card, two Itel phones, and $2,160 cash. After stealing his stuff, the criminals pushed him out along Hillside Extension and sped away. Everything they stole added up to $2,300.
Chakanza mentioned that police started looking into this armed robbery case right away. The hunt for these Mushikashika criminals continues as officers gather more information about what happened.
