MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus ups its game

MediaTek just released its new Dimensity 9400+ chip. The company built it on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, N3E. This chip runs without any low-power cores because it's already super efficient. Phone makers plan to launch devices with this processor during the second quarter.

The chip has one Cortex-X925 core running at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.30GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.40GHz. It also packs an Immortalis GPU with 12 cores that support ray tracing. The processor includes 12MB of L3 cache and many additional memory features.

Users will enjoy Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and display support up to WQHD+ at a 180Hz refresh rate. The battery lasts longer, thanks to Ultrasave 4.0 technology. Camera support tops out at a single 320MP sensor or 8K video at 60FPS.

AI tasks run on MediaTek's 890 NPU, which handles on-device generative AI and works 20 percent faster than before. Tech fans should look forward to the Dimensity 9500 coming in the fourth quarter since the 9400+ only offers small improvements over the regular 9400.
