Mhandu walks free after burying names and a knife in Glen View

Harare magistrate Sikhethile Moyo granted unconditional release to socialite Natalie Mhandu following her court appearance on witchcraft charges. The case centers on allegations that Mhandu performed ritual activities at Churu Farm alongside traditional healer Christine Matashu and former domestic worker Elizabeth Mharire. Prosecutors claim the trio traveled to Glen View, where Matashu guided Mhandu through ceremonies involving cloth inscribed with names and the burial of ritual items. Mharire discovered snuff powder scattered throughout her living quarters on July 5, 2025. The domestic worker confronted Mhandu about these activities before terminating her employment.

Mharire informed authorities about alleged spell casting on July 9 and departed the residence the following day. Investigators accompanied Mharire to the farm location on August 14, where they recovered buried materials from the ritual site. Court proceedings revealed that Mhandu had been summoned from her residence rather than detained. The defendant faces trial beginning August 13, 2025. Bail discussions did not occur due to the summons process rather than the arrest.
