MP and NDC Clash Over Drug Trafficking Claim

A heated argument broke out on JoyNews during the Newsfile programme. The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, made serious accusations about two airplanes.

Rev. Fordjour claimed the planes landed at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025 and might have been moving drugs and money. He said intelligence reports suggested the aircraft could carry cocaine and large amounts of U.S. dollars.

The claims sparked strong reactions from political groups. Sammy Gyamfi from the National Democratic Congress warned Rev. Fordjour about his statements and challenged the MP to prove his claims or face serious consequences.

Gyamfi spoke strongly about the need for evidence. He believed the MP should not hide behind parliamentary protection. The politician suggested Rev. Fordjour must explain himself or risk being arrested.

President John Mahama responded by ordering a full investigation. He asked security agencies to work with Rev. Fordjour and check the details of his accusations. The president wanted to ensure everything was clear and truthful.

Not everyone agreed with the approach. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who handles government communications, called the claims false and accused Rev. Fordjour of spreading incorrect information about the airplanes.

Rev. Fordjour stood by his statements. He insisted his concerns came from real intelligence sources. The MP asked National Security to investigate deeply and clarify what happened with the planes.

The argument showed how complicated political discussions can become. People disagreed about the facts and how to handle serious accusations. The story highlighted the challenges of discussing national security matters.
