Mudavadi heads London trip backing Sudan peace

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi traveled to London for a week to attend a conference about peace in Sudan. The UK government invited him to present Kenya's views on regional security in the Horn of Africa. The war in Sudan has killed thousands and forced millions to leave their homes during its three years. Women and children make up many of those who fled the fighting. Kenya wants a unified Sudan with a political process led by the Sudanese people themselves.

Kenya has hosted meetings between the Sudan Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces leaders. These talks included political, civil, and community representatives working to end the conflict. Mudavadi plans to encourage using African institutions like IGAD and the African Union instead of methods that serve selfish interests. He heads a government team finalizing finance terms with UK Export Finance for the Nairobi Railway City project. This agreement represents major progress for urban development plans.

He will complete Kenya's promises to implement Nairobi Bus Rapid Transit Line 3. This includes work on Commuter Rail Lines 2 and 5, with announcements coming April 28. President William Ruto recently asked warring groups to talk rather than fight. He believes political problems need dialogue, not military action. Ruto also asked outside supporters of fighting groups to stop endangering Sudanese lives.
