Munetsi makes his mark for Wolves and Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe picked Marshall Munetsi to play during the March international football break. He represents one of several Wolves players chosen by their countries for these matches. Wolves brought the 28-year-old Zimbabwean midfielder aboard at the last minute of transfer deadline day. He quickly became important under coach Vitor Pereira at his new club.

The Portuguese manager plays Munetsi higher up the field as an attacking midfielder. This position gives him the freedom to move forward into the box and make plays. Munetsi put his name on the scoresheet for Wolves against Everton about two weeks ago. The strong midfielder then joined his national team for World Cup games against Benin and Nigeria.

Thursday night saw Munetsi play deeper in midfield during the international match. Despite this different role, he still managed to leave his mark on the game. Zimbabwe finished with a 2-2 tie against Benin, which leaves them at the bottom of Group C. Their chances of making the World Cup look very slim right now.

Munetsi can feel proud of his performance regardless of team standings. He scored a nice goal that helped his country earn a point from the match. He hit it with his weaker left foot inside the penalty area, showing good instinct. Many Wolves supporters shared their excitement about his play on social media platform X.

Fans wrote messages praising him. One mentioned he should score more for his club team. Another jokingly predicted he would win the Ballon d'Or award. Someone else simply called him a great player. A different fan compared him to Dave Edwards, who famously scored many goals as a Wolves midfielder years ago.

More comments highlighted his excellent play. A supporter declared he earned man of the match honors. Another predicted Munetsi would become an amazing player next season. The international break just started, but coach Pereira must feel happy seeing his players perform well. He hopes everyone returns without injuries.

Hwang Hee-chan scored for South Korea against Oman. This success might boost his confidence after struggling to play consistently for Wolves. Matt Doherty also found the net against Bulgaria. The defender proved he can still attack effectively, even though Wolves mostly use him as a center-back these days.

Several other Wolves players hope to emulate Hwang and Doherty by becoming heroes for their countries. After their international duties end next week, all these players will return to training at Compton Park. Their success abroad could bring positive energy back to the club for upcoming matches.
