The NRM party members in Parliament met at State House Entebbe on Friday, where they discussed their main budget goals for 2025/25. After the meeting, Denis Hamson Obua, who leads this group and serves as Government Chief Whip, spoke to reporters at Parliament about what they decided. President Yoweri Museveni, the national chairman of the ruling party, gave the opening speech at this gathering.
They agreed on ten key areas to focus money on. These include keeping peace and security strong across Uganda, making healthcare more affordable through disease prevention, and improving education, water access, and social protection programs. The lawmakers want to boost the economy through wealth creation projects that lower money costs, such as PDM, Emyooga, UDB, and UDC.
The NRM group committed to backing better infrastructure, such as railway systems—both Standard Gauge and Meter Gauge tracks. They plan to maintain paved and unpaved roads, provide cheaper electricity, expand water access, and build better communication networks throughout the country. They also support regional cooperation to secure markets for Ugandan products.
Other priorities include irrigation systems to help farmers succeed despite weather changes, creating industrial parks for manufacturing and food processing, fighting corruption, protecting the environment, including wetlands and forests, plus strengthening connections between different parts of the economy. Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi and Brandon Kintu from the Caucus Publicity department joined Obua when he spoke to the media.
