Nacon Snatches WRC Game Rights in Surprise Twist

Nacon will make World Rally Championship video games again after EA gave up the rights. The French company previously created seven WRC games before EA took over the license in 2020. EA only made one rally game before stopping their development plans last month. Codemasters helped EA create EA Sports WRC 2023, but decided to pause future racing projects. The partnership between EA and Rally officials ended much earlier than expected.

Rally championship leaders picked Nacon to create games covering the 2027 through 2032 racing seasons. Nacon CEO Alain Falc said his team feels excited about working with professional drivers and racing teams again. The company plans to spend two years developing a completely new rally gaming series. French developer Kylotonn will likely help create the upcoming racing games, just like their previous partnership. Gaming experts believe Nacon understands rally racing better than other video game companies.

World Rally Championship marketing chief Arne Dirks praised Nacon for its racing game expertise and creative vision. The new partnership aims to create realistic driving experiences that satisfy both longtime fans and new players. Nacon promises its games will capture the excitement and challenge of real rally competitions. Racing fans can expect the first new WRC game sometime around 2027, when the license officially starts.
