Arusha Regional Commissioner, Mr. Amos Makalla, has reassured the public that the security situation at the Namanga Border, which connects Tanzania and Kenya, remains stable. Speaking during his visit to Namanga on Thursday, Mr. Makalla affirmed that both the Tanzania-Kenya border and the Namanga One-Stop Border Post are secure, following President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive to ensure the smooth continuation of all social and economic activities after the General Election.
Mr. Makalla emphasized the importance of the Namanga border, noting its significance for residents and businesses in both countries who benefit from cross-border trade and economic opportunities. He highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the border officials of both nations, commending their efforts in providing quality services that strengthen bilateral relations. The Commissioner also stressed that any instability in the region would negatively affect both nations’ economies and social welfare. On the Kenyan side, Mr. Nicholous Mugambi, Manager of the Kenya Revenue Authority at Namanga, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting trade facilitation and maintaining strong ties with Tanzanian authorities for continued prosperity.
