Namibia edges Uganda by one run in nailbiter finish

Namibia squeezed past Uganda Women with just one run to spare during their fifth T20I match Monday evening in Windhoek. The home team took a 3-2 series lead at the High Performance Oval, making Tuesday's final game decisive.

Namibia chose batting first after winning the toss but quickly found themselves struggling. Uganda bowlers kept them down to only 35 runs halfway through their innings. Mekelaye Mwatile rescued the Namibian side with her steady 60 runs from 49 balls. Her performance helped them reach 126 runs with six wickets lost.

Uganda started well behind Esther Iloku, who scored 41 runs, and Janet Mbabazi, who added 44. They seemed comfortable at 73 runs with just one wicket down midway through their chase. The Namibian bowlers showed great composure late in the game as the Ugandan players made rushed decisions. The visitors fell short at 125 runs when Namibia claimed their final wicket with just one ball left.

Captain Mbabazi expressed disappointment about losing such a close match but praised her teammates' batting improvement. Coach Muhumuza pointed out fewer wasted deliveries and better singles running as signs of progress despite the narrow defeat.
