Nationwide bust nets five tonnes, arrests drug dealers

Police across the country grabbed more than five tons of drugs from dealers. They took marijuana and crystal meth called mutoriro off the streets. Many drug sellers went to jail recently. Some of these criminals helped police learn more, but others faced judges and court cases right away.

Cops set up checkpoints on roads everywhere. They stop cars randomly to search them and raid companies they think sell drugs. Commissioner Paul Nyathi from the police said his officers caught five drug dealers last weekend. Two people in Masvingo had 200 kilograms of marijuana when police found them.

Officers arrested Limbikani Mwanandi, age 36, and Speakmore Mhonda, age 39, as they moved drugs from a broken bus into their Nissan Caravan. In Harare, three more people ended up in handcuffs for having 5.5 kilograms of marijuana. These three included Petronella Masauso, Maryland Tarusarira, and Achford Mavhima.

Police also caught a man from Bulawayo with crystal meth. Tigor Tyron Seigfried, age 39, carried 1.9 kilograms of this dangerous drug. Between March 2 and March 4, 2025, police arrested eight additional suspects. These arrests happened in Harare and Beitbridge when officers discovered various illegal drugs on these people.
