Swapo party member Paulus Nekundi claimed victory at Otjiwarongo's special election Tuesday. The Electoral Commission registered 27,870 eligible voters for this special election. The vote became necessary after constituency councillor Marlayn Mbakera left her position. Mbakera joined parliament March 21, creating the vacant seat. The election filled the empty council position left behind. Nekundi steps into the role as the area's new representative.
