Ngizwe Mchunu is facing fresh assault claims from a woman who says he is the father of her child. She alleges that the former Ukhozi FM presenter attacked her and left her in need of medical care.
Maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose brought the matter to public attention after the woman reached out to him online. She had asked for help, claiming her efforts to get police to act on her complaint had gone nowhere.
And she reportedly had footage to share. A still image from the video shows her seated in a wheelchair at a hospital, with an intravenous drip in her arm. The footage shows her condition, but it does not establish who caused her injuries.
According to a message shared with Khuzani, the woman blamed Mchunu for the alleged beating. She also claimed that police had failed to take her case seriously and hoped Julius Malema might help her get attention for the complaint.
But Khuzani's role in the matter brought fresh tension. He claims Mchunu learned of their online exchange and began to suspect that the musician had pushed the woman to file a complaint.
Khuzani disputes that account. He maintains that she made the first move by contacting him through social media. As he tells it, he didn't even have her phone details before she sought his help.
This isn't the first time Mchunu has faced such claims. Two former partners, Lindi MaKhuzwayo and Floda MaMthimkhulu, have spoken in public about alleged abuse during their past relationships with him.
MaKhuzwayo's case drew police attention after reports linked Mchunu's arrest to an alleged attack at their home in Phoenix. That was a past accusation, not proof of what the latest complainant says happened.
MaMthimkhulu had also made claims about mistreatment in her relationship with the media personality. Her account added to the earlier public debate over his conduct.
Still, the new complaint needs to be treated as an allegation. The woman's account and the material shared online do not establish Mchunu's guilt, and the draft provides no confirmed finding from police or a court regarding this case.
