Niger Police Told to Bust District Head After Ambush

A lawyer named Charles Ebuka Egbunike asked the Niger State Police Commissioner to arrest the District Head of Kashikoko community. The petition claims Malam Sa'idu Minin Nagya ordered an attack on police officer Ndako Aliyu. The officer was traveling with his brother Kuta Jibrin to check on a building project when they were ambushed. They carried five million Naira cash and three water pumping machines during their journey.

The attack happened in a forest area called Ruwako, where seven people blocked their path. Two attackers, Ibrahim Adamu Zabokun and Babadu Yadi, were recognized by the victims. According to the petition, the attackers said they acted on direct orders from the District Head to kill them. One attacker cut through the officer's right hand down to the bone, and another slashed his brother's waist before stealing their money and valuables.

The lawyer urged police officials to arrest the suspects before violence erupts in the community. A local leader, Alhaji Abubakar Ndakotsu, expressed concerns about one suspect being released on bail. The Bida Area Commander explained he released the suspect due to health issues and later learned the suspect had died. He defended his decision, saying it prevented a death from occurring in police custody.
