Nigerian films ghosted by Oscars as NOSC snubs entries

Nigeria will not enter a film for the International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards. The Nigerian Official Selection Committee received six submissions after opening applications in August but voted against forwarding any entry. Chairperson Stephanie Linus stated that while domestic cinema has advanced in meeting international standards, films still lack the creative and technical precision needed for global competition. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been notified of this determination.
