Nigeria's Communication Minister Olatunbosun Tijani has asked young people across the country to grab tech opportunities for financial freedom and future security. He shared this message Monday during the launch of a solar-powered community tech center in Abeokuta. The National Information Technology Development Agency built the center after Tijani helped make it happen. The facility aims to serve residents with modern digital resources.
Tijani emphasized President Tinubu's plan to invest heavily in digital growth to help Nigeria's large youth population. The administration wants to train more than one million tech professionals who can use technology to push the country forward. The new tech hub sits on five huge acres at Abeokuta's City Hall Complex. This development marks part of the celebrations leading up to the Egba people's 200-year anniversary in 2030.
Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West, donated the innovation center along with a library and administrative building. Tijani pushed young Nigerians to jump on tech chances, mentioning that officials have built about 30 similar centers nationwide, ready for opening soon. He stressed that the center creates real opportunities for students from local schools like FUNAAB, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and Crescent University.
The minister explained how any high school student from neighborhoods like Ijeun or Lafenwa could walk into the center and learn programming, robotics, or digital business skills. He urged youth to stay focused rather than waste time, pointing out the global shortage of tech workers. He highlighted that the starting pay for tech jobs ranges between N250,000 and N500,000 monthly, making it an attractive career path.
Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake and top ruler of Egbaland, thanked President Tinubu for supporting the center's construction. He believes it will greatly boost youth skills and improve tech education throughout the state. The traditional leader praised Tinubu's dedication to growing educational systems in Egbaland as outstanding compared to previous administrations.
The king mentioned that Tinubu recently appointed leaders for the new Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta. This makes their capital the first Nigerian city with two federal universities in one location. Gbadebo sees these developments as clear signs of progress for the Egba people. He called on all Egba citizens at home and abroad to follow Tijani's example by using their connections to help develop their homeland.
