ODM Treasurer Rejects Ruto Board Role Over Community

Timothy Bosire turned down President William Ruto's job offer to lead the National Transport and Safety Authority board.

Bosire is thankful for the chance. But he had to think about what his community wanted. After talking to people, he felt it wasn't the right choice.

"As a leader, you have to listen," Bosire said. "Our community has given up a lot. When chances come around, we should get first pick."

Bosire isn't the only one to say no to Ruto. Margaret Nyambura also declined a job. Ruto asked her to be Kenya's ambassador to Ghana, but she said no for personal reasons.

Nyambura was supposed to meet with officials about the job. Instead, she sent a letter. "I can't make it," she wrote. "I don't want to waste your time."

Vincent Kemosi said no to the same Ghana job before her. Victor Munyaka turned down a different position in November. And Millicent Omanga said no to being on the Nairobi Rivers Commission in October. She also cited personal reasons.

It seems Ruto is having trouble filling these jobs. But the people he's asking have their own plans. They want to do what's best for themselves and their communities, even if it means saying no to the president.
