PDP Leader Demands Senate Reinstate Senator Akpoti Uduaghan

Francis Maku from Delta State wants the Senate to bring back Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan immediately. This PDP leader believes her long suspension violates the rights of the people she represents. He served as Warri North Local Government Council Chairman before and feels strongly about this matter. Maku asked President Tinubu to step in fast to protect the National Assembly from public mockery.

The six-month punishment seems way harsh to Maku and goes against his basic right to speak freely under the 1999 Constitution. He pointed out that our main law beats any other rules when it comes to these important issues. He wonders why senators handled this situation without honest intentions. He stressed that the Senate must treat every area fairly instead of blocking Kogi Central from having an equal say.

When the Senate Leader claimed they suspended her because she broke Senate Standing Orders, Maku fired back with facts. He explained that every Nigerian has the fundamental right to express their views freely. The Constitution stands as the highest authority when public matters need settling. Maku referenced an important legal case that limits how long senators can face suspension.

The Court of Appeal decided in 2018 that senators cannot be kicked out for more than 14 days. This decision came from the Senator Ali Ndume case against the Senate, which set clear boundaries. Maku reminded everyone that our lawmakers should make the country look good internationally by listening to all concerns fairly. He emphasized that Kogi Central citizens deserve their voice in government through their elected representatives.
