Peter Ndlovu a football legend with plenty of drama

Peter Ndlovu ranks among the greatest African soccer stars ever. At 50, he manages the Mamelodi Sundowns team. Born February 25, 1973, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, his sports journey began with Highlanders Soccer Club in 1988. He later moved to England's Coventry City in 1991, where he played over 200 Premier League games and scored 45 goals.

The Apostolic Faith Mission of Zimbabwe counts Peter as an active member. He attends this Pentecostal church regularly, showing deep religious commitment. A tragic car crash in Zimbabwe took his brother Adam's life in 2020. Officials charged Peter with culpable homicide initially, but the case fell apart because evidence proved insufficient.

Peter married gospel singer Sharon Dee before their relationship ended badly. She filed for divorce in November 2009 after discovering his affairs with other women. Reports indicate Sharon requested monthly payments to care for their children. Peter became a father to thirteen kids throughout his life.

His professional career took off early when he joined Highlanders Soccer Club. By 1991, Coventry City brought him to England, where he quickly became a star, netting 27 goals across three seasons. He later played for Sheffield United starting in 1995 and Huddersfield Town from 1998, where he became their leading scorer during the 1999-2000 season.

Peter's European career continued with Birmingham City, Blackpool, and Oldham Athletic. He scored an impressive 88 total goals during his English Premier League career. The Zimbabwe National Team made him captain starting in 1998. He scored 38 goals representing his country and played in African tournaments.

Several controversies followed Peter throughout his career. Officials accused him of attacking a referee during an African Cup match in 2003, but they later dismissed those charges. Match-fixing allegations surfaced against him in 2009, yet those claims also failed to stick. Recently, Peter made headlines when he struggled financially with child support payments. He asked the courts to reduce the money he pays his baby mama each month.
