PlatinumGames Plots Revival After Babylon's Fall Flop

Japanese game maker PlatinumGames had trouble with its first live service game, Babylon's Fall. Players disliked it because of its poor design, bad combat systems, and money-grabbing features. The game closed down less than a year after its release.

The company seems ready to try again with online action games. They posted jobs looking for designers with experience in online games and open-world level design. This new project might learn from past mistakes. PlatinumGames has not said if they will publish this game themselves or work with another company. They currently work with Team Ninja on Ninja Gaiden 4, a single-player action game coming out this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.

Critics felt Babylon's Fall held back its best features to make players stay longer and spend more money. The game kept advanced combat moves and better-designed missions until the late stages. If these elements had appeared earlier, the game might have earned slightly better reviews. Square Enix published the failed game, but their partnership with PlatinumGames ended poorly.
