Pope Francis Uganda Visit Leaves Nation Reeling

Pope Francis traveled to Uganda in November 2015, becoming the third pontiff to visit the country. He arrived from Kenya and connected deeply with Ugandan people through his spiritual message. Crowds welcomed him warmly across the nation, celebrating his presence.

The pope spoke at Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, honoring 22 young Catholic Martyrs killed in the late 1800s. He challenged listeners to care for the marginalized and reject societal indifference. His final words at Namugongo were spoken in Luganda: "May the Lord bless you." Francis urged people to serve others and live with compassion. Through his message of social justice, he connected deeply with Ugandan communities.
