President John Dramani Mahama gave seven new Supreme Court judges their official oath on Thursday. The leader told these fresh court officials they must stay fair when making decisions. He wants them to ignore outside pressure and stick to what the Constitution says. Mahama believes the time has come for people to trust the courts again. The president thinks judges should help all citizens equally.
The new court system must work for everyone regardless of money or social status. Mahama stressed that vulnerable people need protection from unfair treatment. He wants judges who will stand up for what is right even when it gets tough. The president reminded the justices that their job goes beyond just reading laws. They must represent the highest values of fairness and honesty.
Parliament approved all seven candidates after checking their backgrounds carefully. Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei joins the highest court along with six other qualified lawyers. Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh and Justice Senyo Dzamefe also received their positions. Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo earned his spot through the same process. Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba complete the group of new appointees.
