Rain ruins England vs South Africa T20 finale

Weather conditions forced officials to abandon the decisive T20 match between England and South Africa at Trent Bridge without any play. Persistent rainfall prevented the scheduled start time for the series finale. Officials attempted to reschedule the coin toss from 2:00 pm to 2:10 pm local time. Intensifying showers made play impossible throughout the afternoon. Match officials called off the contest at 4:20 pm after conditions failed to improve.

England had leveled the three-match series following their record 146-run victory at Old Trafford on Friday. Phil Salt delivered an exceptional unbeaten 141 runs during that match, setting new records for English T20 cricket. South Africa had previously won the series opener at Cardiff despite rain interruptions. The abandoned finale left both teams sharing the series honors. Salt's performance represented both the fastest and highest century achieved by an English player in the format.
