Rain threat hangs over India, South Africa World Cup clash

Rain threatens to interrupt play as India prepares to face South Africa in their third ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match at the ADCA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. The city has seen intermittent heavy rain since Tuesday, and a red alert remains in effect until Thursday afternoon. Both teams are seeking full points before their upcoming encounters with Australia.

India shares the top position with England on four points but trails on Net Run Rate after wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Smriti Mandhana will look to deliver big innings, while Deepti Sharma continues to lead the bowling attack. South Africa, recovering from a heavy defeat to England, beat New Zealand in their last outing. Tazmin Brits’ century and consistent form from Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp boost their chances. India, who lead the head-to-head record 20-12, enter as favorites if rain does not disrupt play.
